Hi, I'm Cat, wife of Al. Our Father in Heaven has graciously loaned us six dear and lively little blessings, all born at home: Josiah (1992) who was a 43 weeker, Verity (1993), Keren (1995), who had a twice-wrapped nuchal cord & who was guided safely out by her daddy, Paul (1998) another 43 weeker, Alasdair Seth (2002) big boy born in a homebirth unfriendly state but with many homebirth friendly people, and Claire Sephra (2003), who was born in a travel trailer and whom I affectionately call my little trailer princess. Glory & honor, power & strength be to God, who gave us his only begotten son, Jesus, that we might have eternal life. Mark 16:16. His eye is on the sparrow, and He will provide. My grandmother was one of 14 children all born at home without a midwife in the backwoods of North Idaho. Alexander Strozier III was born in the
caul in a Isaac Hugh Snow Assaly, born September
24, 1999 at home in Whistler, BC. April Lila Parkinson - born at home 10
august 2002
My daughter Yeva was born peacefully at home
on February 29, 2004. 8 lbs. 14 oz. and a 10 hour labor that seemed
more like a 10 hour party! My kids, husband, mom, sister and best friend
were all there along with my midwife and doula.
From the beginning of my pregnancy (my third) I
knew I wanted to do it differently. I read a few books (American Way of
Birth, Ina May's Guide to Childbirth, Spiritual Midwifery) and tried
desperately to convince my husband (his first child).
I ended up going to the same (hospital based)
CNMs that delivered my other two - both to make my husband happy and to
save money (it was virtually free due to my insurance).
At 33 weeks, my OB/GYN practice announced that
they were laying off all of the midwives. I was so upset. I told my
husband I was not going to a doctor, and that there were no other CNMs in
my town at all and none anywhere who took my insurance. So, I did serious
research into fining a home birth midwife. I also hired an OB who I only
went to once! His threats were too much for me. I found a wonderful,
like-minded midwife and hired a doula as well. They work together often
and made the most wonderful team.
My husband stated that very day that he was so
happy it worked out like it did and that he would never want it any other
way. Neither would I. The most empowering experience I've ever had.
I'm a registered nurse who works in a hospital.
I'm looking into becoming a home birth midwife or maybe a doula to start.

Hi! My name is Rachel O’Brien and I, too, was born at home, along with 10 of my 11 siblings. From 1978 until 1996 my Mother gave birth in her own home after the traumatizing experience of giving birth to her first in a hospital. We are all healthy and happy and thankful for this! My own father and all of his other 5 siblings(1930's & 1940's) were born at home on the farm. I birthed 5 of my own children at home(1986 thru 2002) and will birth any future children at home also.
Nicholas Benuska(birthing center w/CNM's, I
consider almost like home)
Christopher Benuska - home w/CNM's
Katrina Benuska - home w/DEM's
Samuel Benuska - home w/DEM's
Olivia Benuska-Archer - home unassisted
waterbirth
Any future Archer babies will be at home,
more than likely unassisted waterbirths

Jacob Haasch was born at home 6 days
after EDD, on 11/7/01. Labor took 1 hour 32 minutes. He weighed 10 lbs
and was posterior and had his cord around his shoulder. He arrived
about 10 minutes before our midwives, so he was welcomed into the world by
his daddy's hands in our birth pool, with his oldest brother close by. He
was beautifully pink and had great tone, I was not technically born at home, but in the
back of an ambulance, at a red light on the way to the hospital, with my
grandmother (midwife) in attendance. They turned around and went back to my
grandma’s house where, incidentally, my sister was born while I watched 14
months later! Grandma had attended most of our county’s births. The family
tells me that many of those she did not know she was attending until someone
knocked at the door in the middle of the night, very often the country doc
who knew he was out of his league and Minnie was the expert, would be the
one at the door asking for her assistance! She had a reputation for being
able to revive “blue babies” and babies the doc had given up on, she would
not! She was the baby saver!!!!!! Our Boys I am a homebirth midwife in central Indiana.
Sylvia Marie born at home on July 16th 2001 her sister Sage Liberty came two years later on June 20th 2003 also at home.
I have three daughters, the first was born in
the hospital. Future children will be born at home.
Sarah Elizabeth born at home 8-28-1995 with midwife and LOTS of family present. Emmalee Pauline born at home 8-15-2000 in the caul with midwife and family present. This birth was used for the TLC the Baby Story as well. Stephen James Paul was born unassisted at home into Daddy's hands with only Grandma present in a beautiful birth amid lightening and thunder on March 16, 2003.

My first child was born in hospital (1997) Aghhh!!!! but we survived and learnt. My daughter was born at home 11 weeks ago (26.12.2003). Rhianna Jane Gloria was delivered, through water, by my partner and I, with the love and support of our wonderful (spiritual) midwife Jane and mutual friend and kinesiologist, Lyn.
